Almost finished with study – What to do

Are you almost finished with your AUAS study and want to know which steps to take? Please see more information below.

RETURN YOUR RESIDENCE PERMIT CARD

You are obliged to return your residence permit card to the Dutch Immigration Service (IND) when you leave the Netherlands. There are two ways to do this:

  • You can hand in your card at all IND offices, you need to make an appointment. When choosing this option you can receive a proof that you owned a residence permit and this can be useful when leaving the Netherlands.
  • You can send the card to the Dutch Immigration Service from within the Netherlands or from your home country. Please send it to the following address:

IND Bureau Documenten, Postbus 7025
8007 HA Zwolle, The Netherlands

DEREGISTER WITH THE MUNICIPALITY

You need to deregister with the municipality when you will leave the Netherlands. The municipality removes your personal details from the database and informs other government authorities about your departure, including the Dutch Immigration Service.

For more information about deregistration with the Municipality of Amsterdam go to their website. If you live in another municipality please contact them directly.

Students that finished their AUAS bachelor or master can apply for an orientation year or search year. This orientation year enables students to seek employment in the Netherlands as a highly skilled migrant. For more information, please visit our working after graduation page.
