Financial issues

Please note that your financial situation may affect the validity of your residence permit. Are you an international student with a residence permit for study purposes? And do you have financial issues? Please make sure to directly contact Immigration Affairs as well (immigration@hva.nl). They can check if your financial issues have consequences for your stay in the Netherlands.

Students who do not pay tuition fees in time, in spite of reminders from the AUAS, can have their enrolment terminated by the AUAS. Please contact the student counsellor if you wish discuss a payment arrangement to prevent your enrolment being terminated.

AMSTERDAM TALENT SCHOLARSHIP

Non-EER students studying at the AUAS and who pay institutional tuition fees can be eligible for an Amsterdam Talent Scholarship (ATS) at the end of each academic year. This is a grant in which part of the non-EU/EER student's tuition fees are reimbursed at the end of the academic year (EUR 3,000 per student per college year). A criteria for the application is that the student in the academic year concerned obtains at least 60 credits with a grade average of 7. Credits obtained from subjects in previous academic years will not go towards assessing whether the standard has been met. AUAS PROFILING FUND

If you are behind in your studies, in several situations, you can request an additional grant from the AUAS's Profiling Fund. These situations include delays through such things as pregnancy, family circumstances and top-level sports. The regulation is detailed in the AUAS Student Charter, articles 6.2 to 6.5. This application should be made via the student counsellor and it is very important that the delaying circumstance is registered with the student counsellor in time (within three months).

AUAS STUDYING WITH A DISABLITY FUND

If a student needs a service because of a disability, but this service is not funded and the student has no money to pay for it either, the service can possibly be funded from the Studying with a Disability Fund. The requested service should help reduce or remove obstacles for study. This concerns situations in which existing services do not offer a solution. The application should be made in time via the student counsellor.

AUAS BOARD MEMBER GRANTS

Students who have fallen behind with their studies after their propaedeutic year because they were a board member of a student organisation recognised by the AUAS may be eligible for a body membership grant. A board member is someone who fulfils the job of chair, vice-chair, treasurer, secretary or general member. There are additional conditions in requesting a board member grant. These include: you must be registered and receive a student grant/loan, no more than three or five board member grants are provided by AUAS in an academic year and the application should be submitted within three months of the start of the board membership activity. Of course the student organisation must be recognised and this recognition must be renewed every 2 years. The application should be made via the student counsellor. The regulation is detailed in the AUAS Student Charter, articles 6.6 to 6.14.

AUAS Emergency Fund

Students who find themselves in temporary financial difficulties through unforeseen and serious circumstances beyond their control, and are unable to obtain financial support elsewhere, can make a request via the student counsellor for a loan from the AUAS Emergency Fund. This does not apply to problems with paying tuition fees! AUAS Student Charter, article 6.15.
