Collect your residence permit

(not applicable to students from the European Union)

AUAS Immigration Affairs assists students who need a residence permit.

The IND is organising central collection days in the Hague together with AUAS for international students to collect their residence permit. When your card is ready you will receive an e-mail from the Immigration department and you can make an appointment to collect your residence permit on one of the following days:

  • Saturday 17 September 2022
  • Saturday 24 September 2022

Please ensure to keep these dates available in your calendar!

AUAS will be informed by the IND when a student's residence permit card is ready for collection. As soon as we have received that information, Immigration Affairs will inform you via about this. We will then send you a link to our booking system which will allow you to select a timeslot on one of the above mentioned collection days. These collection days will be located in the Hague, near train station The Hague Holland Spoor .

We will be inviting students to the booking system from mid-August until 23 September 2022, so your patience is much appreciated. We understand that this situation is not ideal but this is the only solution to ensure our students are able to receive their permits within the first few weeks after their arrival to the Netherlands. If you have not been invited to book a timeslot by 23 September, or are unable to travel to the Hague on either one of the collection days, the normal residence permit collection process will apply. In that case you will be required to make an appointment at the IND office in Amsterdam which may not be available for a few weeks/months as they are currently very busy.

You will still have valid residency status in the Netherlands until you are able to collect your permit. We appreciate your understanding and please make sure to keep an eye on your AUAS student email and this website for updates.

Biometrics

Only applicable if you have the nationality of one the following countries: Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Vatican City, USA, South Korea and the United Kingdom.

The IND requires a passport photo, fingerprints, and a signature for your residence permit. You can make an appointment after you have received an e-mail that says that the IND needs your biometrics.

Leading up to the start of each semester, the IND desks can be busier than usual. Due to the high number of applications and shortage of staff at the IND desk, there is a limited number of timeslots available and some days they are no timeslots. AUAS as well as the IND are aware of this issue, and are working towards a solution.

Please keep an eye on the website of the IND to see if new timeslots become available. In any case, please do not worry if you cannot make an appointment, or if your appointment is a few weeks in the future. Your legal residency in the Netherlands will remain, even if you have not been able to submit your biometric data.
