Submitting applications through the Digital Service Point
Do you suffer from dyslexia? Do you need additional time to complete exams or require larger forms as a result of this condition? Submit an application through the Digital Service Point as soon as possible. Keep your dyslexia statement at hand, as you will be required to upload it along with your application. You will receive a reply to your request for additional time for exams and/or forms in large-sized print in your AUAS email inbox within two weeks. Your request may been have granted or rejected, or you may be asked to supply more information.

What is a valid dyslexia statement?
The statement must mention dyslexia. The dyslexia statement must be signed by a healthcare psychologist or general remedial educationalist and should be based on a diagnostic test. A dyslexia pass from a previous degree programme is therefore not sufficient.
What if I have dyslexia, but do not have a valid statement?
Ask the person treating you for a modified dyslexia statement. If this is not possible, you also have the option to take a shortened dyslexia test at the University of Amsterdam. The costs for this short test amount to €225. Should you wish to make use of this facility, please contact Anna Plakas.

'Implementation of addtional exam time (AET) at the FBE'
If your request has been granted, the following conditions apply:
Approval prior to Friday 17 September 2021
You will receive additional time for exams and/or large-font forms beginning with the partial examinations in weeks 4, 5 and 6 of block 1.
Approval between Friday 17 September and Friday 8 October 2021
You will receive additional time for exams and/or large-font forms beginning with the examinations in week 7, 8, 9 and 10 of block 1.
Approval after Friday 8 October 2021
You will receive additional time for exams and/or large-font forms beginning in block 2.
Additional information
You will sit your examinations in the so-called AET classroom. AET stands for toetstijdverlenging (additioinal exam time), although students who require other special facilities will use the AET room as well. The AET room can be different on each exam date.
Announcement of AET rooms:
- A weekly overview of AET rooms for written examinations will be published in the announcements on myauas on the Friday before the examination week begins.
- An announcement will also be posted at the Servicepoint on every examination day.
- Digital examinations will not be held in a separate AET room, but seats will be reserved in the digital examination rooms (IWO, REC and FMB, ground floor) for students who are entitled to AET.
Please note: the AET rooms will not be listed on mytimetable.hva.nl.

- Falling behind due to personal problems
(illness, mental health issues, family circumstances, relationship problems, …) - Top-level sports

- Binding (negative) advice regarding continuation of studies (BSA)

(doubts regarding your choice of degree programme, reorientation, switching to a different programme, enrolling in a second programme, pursuing a university degree, labour market perspectives). - Financial affairs relating to your studies
(student grants and loans, Administrative Body Membership Grant, financial problems, …) - Complaints, objections and appeals
- Legislation and regulations
(Students' Charter, Teaching and Examination Regulations, Regulations concerning undesirable conduct, Student Finance Act).
In an appointment, we will assess your question or problem together, discuss it and make a follow-up appointment if it needs more time. Our meetings are confidential: no information given during the talk may be repeated to a third party without your consent.
After considering your question, we will provide you with information and recommendations and help you to take action to achieve an improvement in your personal performance in relation to your studies and/or internship. We have specific expertise with issues such as choosing courses, studying with a disability, and student grants and loans, and we have a lot of experience with advising and supporting students with personal problems.
We can also advise the examination board and the degree programme about any facilities and modifications required, so that students can perform well in their studies without being held back by personal disadvantages. If required we can provide referrals (to the student doctor, student psychologist, social worker, a support worker from the Dutch Association of Mental Health and Addiction Care, etc.
