Data protection officer

The data protection officer internally monitors and provides advice on the AUAS's application of and compliance with the GDPR.

To adequately perform these duties, the data protection officer has access to personal data and processing activities. The data protection officer is involved at an early stage in all matters relating to the protection of personal data. The information which the data protection officer becomes aware of will be treated as confidential.

The data protection officer cooperates with and acts as the AUAS's contact point for the Dutch Data Protection Authority. This means that the data protection officer is also responsible for reporting data breaches.

To enable the data protection officer to carry out these duties effectively, the data protection officer is involved at an early stage in all matters relating to the protection of personal data. This gives the data protection officer the opportunity to advise on personal data protection and to assess whether the intended activities are in compliance with the GDPR. The data protection officer will be notified of any data breaches or major security incidents. This information helps the data protection officer to gain insight into the nature and level of the organisation's security, and may give cause for the data protection officer to issue advice in this area.

The data protection officer at the AUAS is Jan van den Berg. You can contact him at the following email address: functionarisgegevensbescherming@hva.nl.
