As soon as you are enrolled at the AUAS, you can use a AUAS email address in Microsoft 365 (firstname.lastname@student.hva.nl or firstname.prefix.lastname@student.hva.nl). Read how to set up your email, how to automatically forward your messages to your private email address and how to reset your email account after changing your AUAS-ID password.
Access your email
As a student at AUAS, you are given an AUAS email address (firstname.lastname@student.hva.nl). You can access your email via Outlook on the web.
To access your AUAS email, use your AUAS email address as your username and the password of your AUAS-ID. Before using your AUAS email address, first set up 2-step verification.
Don't miss important emails
The AUAS sends all information about your study programme via email. Check your AUAS mailbox or your private email address regularly so you don't miss anything.
If you use Hotmail, Live Mail, MSN Mail or Gmail, emails sent to you by the AUAS may sometimes fail to arrive or end up in your spam folder. Check your spam folder regularly and add the AUAS to your trusted senders list.
Setting up your email app
You can always access your email though outlook.office.com in your browser.
See Microsoft's support pages to find out how to set up the Outlook app (and other Microsoft 365 apps) on your devices:
POP3 and IMAP do not meet our safety requirements, and are therefore not available.
Sending limit
You can send emails up to a maximum of 250 addresses per hour. This can be either in one message with 250 addresses in the To/Cc/Bcc fields, or more messages with fewer recipients. A distribution list or group from the shared address book counts as one recipient. If you exceed this limit, you will not be able to send emails to addresses outside the AUAS for 24 hours. After that period, you can resend saved messages, bearing in mind the sending limit.
Using email after terminating your enrolment
When you deregister as a student, you can use your AUAS email address as long as your AUAS-ID is still valid. After that, your AUAS email account will be closed.

because of spelling error or different name
In some cases you can adjust your AUAS email address. For instance, if it contains a spelling error, or you have formally changed your name. You do that by adjusting your name in Studielink.
You can adjust your AUAS email address if it contains a spelling error, or if you have formally changed your name. It sometimes also happens that your AUAS email address is not to your liking. For instance, if you have multiple last names of which you only use one.
Step 1: adjust name in Studielink
AUAS email addresses are automatically generated from your preferred name and surname (including infixes) as they are stated in Studielink. If you want to change your email address, you first have to adjust your name in Studielink. To do so, log in to Studielink with your DigiD. The information in Studielink and our ICT systems is synchronised during the night, so it may take up to 24 hours before your name is displayed correctly in our systems.
If you don't have access to Studielink, or you have arranged your enrolment without using Studielink, then please contact the Central Student Administration (CSA) via the Digital Service Point.
Step 2: change AUAS email address
Once you've modified your name in Studielink, go through these steps to change your AUAS email address as well:
- Open a browser and go to id.hva.nl/details
- Log in with your AUAS-ID and your corresponding password.
- Check if your details are displayed correctly, and scroll down.
- At the bottom of the page, your current AUAS email address is displayed, and below it, a button 'Generate your email address.' If you click that, your current AUAS email address is being compared with the details from Studielink.
- If that information does not match, a new AUAS email address will automatically be generated based on the most recent details from Studielink. Here you have the option to either accept or reject the new AUAS email address. If you reject it because it is not correct, then please contact Servicedesk ICTS. If you accept the new AUAS email address, then your old AUAS email address automatically becomes an alias. That way, you don't miss any emails. After that, the new email address is automatically set as your primary AUAS email address.
Processing time
Checking if the new AUAS email address is available, and subsequently processing it, may take up to 5 minutes. While waiting, we ask you not to refresh the webpage.
Synchronising your new AUAS email address with all of our ICT systems takes 24 hours at the most. During that time you can still be contacted through the old AUAS email address that was already added as an alias.
It is easy for you to change your personal email address via Studielink.
Log in on Studielink and go to the tab 'Details' to change your personal email address. In principle the AUAS always communicates with you via your AUAS mail, but this enables emails to be automatically forwarderd to your personal email address, ensuring you do not miss any important messages.
