Test provisions
IMPLEMENTATION ADDITIONAL EXAM TIME FBE ACADEMIC YEAR 2024-2025
In what situations can you apply for additional exam time (AET)?
You are entitled to additional time if you have difficulty concentrating and/or reading and can substantiate that this is due to personal circumstances, such as:
• Dyslexia
• AD(H)D
• ASD
• blindness or visual impairment
• a disability that causes difficulties with concentration
• you grew up abroad.
If you have a visual impairment, you will get 50% additional time; in most other cases, you will get 25%. The student counsellor grants this additional time on behalf of the examination board. These facilities apply to both central and decentralised exams.
You can also request additional testing facilities from the student counsellor. Examples include the ability to visit the restroom during an exam, eat or drink, take medication, or use a dictionary or headphones.
Are you unsure about the testing facilities available to you? Please consult your student counsellor.
How to apply for additional test time extension (AET) or other facilities?
Do you have dyslexia? If so, you do not need to visit the student counsellor yourself. You can directly apply for additional exam time (AET) digitally. Read more on Student Info or apply directly via the Digital Service Point.
For all other circumstances, you can request additional exam time or other facilities through the student counsellor. Schedule an appointment.
When does my testing facility take effect?
The date on which you can make use of testing facilities for central examinations depends on the facility granted to you:
• When using Claroread reading software, additional exam time (50%) and/or a separate room.
If you are entitled to one of these facilities, your examination will not be held at the off-campus exam location, but at the Corry Tendeloo Building (CTH). Therefore, the student counsellor needs to grant this facility no later than two weeks prior to your exam as well as register it in SIS. You should then inform the Education Office yourself no later than 10 working days before the exam. This will ensure that the office can guarantee the availability of the requested facility for you.
• 25% additional exam time and/or other facilities
As soon as this facility has been granted and registered in SIS, you will receive a confirmation email. For central exams, you can make use of the additional exam time on the following day. This is granted automatically in the digital test application (Ans). For decentralised exams, you need to inform your teacher yourself. The Education Office will not inform your lecturer about your additional exam for a decentralized exam.
What else do you need to arrange?
• In case of decentralised exams, contact your lecturer in time to make sure you can make use of this facility. To ensure everything goes smoothly, always bring a printed copy of the decision regarding your testing facility to your exam.
• For central digital exams at off-campus locations, the invigilators and/or staff of the examination office will be informed about your accommodations, provided they are properly registered in SIS.
Other facilities?
You may (also) benefit from facilities other than testing facilities. It would be best to visit your degree programme's student counsellor as soon as possible if you have any additional needs.
With the student counsellor, you will discuss which other facilities would be appropriate for you. ‘Appropriate’ means that the provision is suitable – i.e. that it is of real use to you – and that you really need it on account of your personal circumstances.
